Creative Wedding Photography

Some of the simplest wedding photographs make the most captivating ones. These are photos that reflect the utter happiness of the couple rather than detailing all of the participants. Some photographs are so beautiful and show the couple’s love to each other so well as to create deep emotions when viewed.

The making of extraordinary wedding photography is of course all dependent on the photographer who will “catch” the bride barefoot going down the steps of the church because her feet hurt so much following the wedding. Some particularly creative wedding photographs just present themselves.

Photos where the groom is standing behind the bride with his arms wrapped against the bride’s waist are fantastic, but imagine how much more stirring that shot would be if she were leaning back against his shoulder and looking lovingly into his eyes? Kissing brides and grooms is typical of a wedding shot, but having the bride put her arms around his neck will create two beautiful emotions. First the look of love from the bride as she is “almost” kissed, but secondly it will be a picture that the photographer will pose so that her left hand, wearing the new wedding ring will be captured against the dark morning suit that the groom is wearing.

Creativity is also important following the wedding, and can be so simple yet stirring. For instance a shot of the couple kissing on the church steps can be made more stirring if they are kissing under the bride’s veil! That shot will emphasize the utter privacy that the couple feels under that veil, yet the veil is transparent enough to allow us to witness their embrace.

I have seen some shots that were so reflective that I truly wondered what the emotion was in the participants, and that’s important too. Shots of the bride looking down pensively into her wedding bouquet with eyes lowered with a bemused smile on her face are tremendously interesting.

After the wedding the joy of both can be captured when she leans back joyfully as far as she can while her new husband holds her in careful attendance. It shows the trust that the bride has put in her husband, and if they are looking at each other with love in their hearts the shot will capture all of those emotions and more. While they are holding the pose, the photographer can also zoom in a bit to capture the way that their hands are posed, with the bride to the photographer’s right, the photo will also show the rings on her left hand. If the photographer is working with a digital camera and can put many sequence shots together, the zoom perspective can be used on the computer so that the computer is zooming into those hands!  Utterly creative!

A bride who is bare shouldered will be glad to pose in front of her husband while he kisses her shoulder gently. Again, this shot will be filled with emotion as she smiles widely and looks off into the distance with a pensive look upon her face.  Emotive posing is key to creative wedding photography.
