The Devil Wears Prada – REPTAR, King of the Ozone (live)
The Devil Wears Prada drove the roccfest (Fredericktown, OH) crowds crazy with Reptar, King of the Ozone. Mike tossed himself into the crowd for a rousing game of keep away and the security guys didn’t quite know what to do. Seriously though, the crowd LOVES Mikey. He was as safe in their hands as in his recliner at home. Maybe not as comfortable though. Security didn’t need to worry about Mike. They def had their hands full though. The crowd was pushing for the stage throughout the entire set. As happens at least once during every show, my memory card filled up before the song ended. I had to do a little fancy footwork on my laptop and spliced in the track from my Plagues CD along with some still photos. It’s not as awesome as having a bigger memory card but it works.
King Mackerel in Kayak
Kayak fishing off Seagrove Beach, FL in September. This is video of a small King Mackerel I caught. Filmed w/ waterproof Pentax camera. Don’t know what caused audio problems. Cinematography is very difficult while balanced in Kayak in surf with fishing pole in one hand.
Sony Ericsson K850i – It’s Still King of the Camera Phones
When the Sony Ericsson K850i was announced, it took the world by storm. Not only was it Sony Ericsson’s first 5 megapixel mobile phone, but it would also be part of the Cyber-Shot range.
It’s fair to say, then, that in terms of camera phones, this is one of the most important (if not the most important) phones to be released in the last year!
To understand it fully, you have to consider the market it jumped into; the camera phone market. At that time, there were two real competitors for the best camera phone going; it was kind of a war of attrition between Nokia and Sony Ericsson. In Nokia’s corner was the mighty N95, whilst fighting for the Swedes (well, for the Japanese/Swedish joint venture) was the K810. The Nokia clearly had the upper hand in terms of specs, with 5 megapixels and built-in GPSpar excellence.
Sony Ericsson K850i – 5 megapixel Cyber-Shot perfection
What they made was the Sony Ericsson K850i, not only their first 5MP camera phone, but the first 5MP phone from any manufacturer to feature Cyber-Shot technology! By focusing the phone down to make it solely a camera phone, without al the other tech needed to make it a smart phone, Sony Ericsson effectively sidestepped the problem of how to deal with the N95. It dealt with the problem by not being the same class as the N95, so that it could be judged purely on its camera.
The specs of the K850i’s camera certainly blew the N95’s camera out of the water.
In fact, there were many, many mobile phones with cameras, and the K850i blew ‘em all out of water! Sony Ericsson really pulled out all the stops, giving it autofocus, image stabiliser, night mode, a xenon flash (believe me, it needed this!), and a wonderful, slick media viewer, with auto-rotate built in, to let you view photos in landscape mode just by turning the phone on its side. And it’s those features, along with the fantastic 5 megapixel sensor, that make the K850i such an important phone. The Sony Ericsson K850i is available now (in two colours, as well) on O2, Orange, Vodafone, T Mobile and Three.
King of Cameraphones – Focus on the Sony Ericsson C905
As we head towards the end of the year, one company is set on shaping the world of camera-enabled mobile phones. That phone-maker is Sony Ericsson, and they are determined to corner the market for high-end camera phones, with the Sony Ericsson C905!Camera phones in history – the world created by Sony Ericsson It’s quite apt, really, that Sony Ericsson are the ones at the forefront of the coming paradigm shift in camera-equipped mobile phones. After all, it was they who started it all, long ago, in 2002. Let’s remember, they were the first company to release a mobile phone that’d got a camera in it, in the UK. That handset was the Sony Ericsson P800, but it didn’t get the mass market penetration Sony Ericsson would’ve liked, since it was an incredibly (for the time) top-end smartphone. But, their most iconic mobile ever was about to be unveiled, and that one DID have great market penetration. That was the Sony Ericsson T610, and it entirely altered the mobile landscape. There was a phone that stood head and shoulders over the other mobile phones it was up against. It was compact, it was slim, and the country LOVED it. Plus, let’s not forget that the Sony Ericsson T610 had also got an integrated camera, and that it was really the first handset to hit that wider market, and make them think, ‘Hang on, we really do want our mobile phones to have cameras in ‘em!’With that in mind, let’s focus on the latest and greatest of their incredible Cyber-Shot mobile phones: the gorgeous Sony Ericsson C905. Sony Ericsson C905 – the ultimate camera phone? There’s no denying power, and one thing is very clear: the Sony Ericsson C905’s got vastly more sheer power than any other mobile phones you can buy in the UK. How come? Simple, it’s the first camera phone to be unleashed upon the UK that’s got an 8 megapixel camera. Yes, you read that right. 8. That’s a frighteningly big pixel resolution, and it means that the Sony Ericsson C905 gives you the power to take the absolute most amazing images you’ve ever seen, from any camera-equipped mobile phone, in the world. Oh, and on top of that, let’s not forget that Sony Ericsson have souped it up with Cyber-Shot brilliance, and that will make the pictures it produces so much more sumptuous. Add in a brilliant multimedia browser, WiFi, HSDPA and integrated GPS, and you have to come to the conclusion that the Sony Ericsson C905 is, quite simply, one of the best going!Analysis – should you drop your cash on the Sony Ericsson C905? Well, that’s the question, isn’t it. There are now five separate 8 megapixel camera phones on the market, so should you go for the Sony Ericsson C905 or one of its competitors? Well, the Cyber-Shot name on the Sony Ericsson C905 should be a good indicator of what quality you can expect, compared to the other 8 megapixel mobile phones. And yes, some of the others do have things like touchscreens, or are based on Symbian. But out of all of them, the Sony Ericsson C905, in my opinion, combines the best all-round performance with that 8 megapixel camera. It has an exceptional build quality, and it feels solid and reliable, as well as looking truly gorgeous. And let’s not forget, the C905 is the only 8 megapixel camera phone with a lens cover, and you wouldn’t want to get a scratched lens, now, would you!
