Can anyone advise whats best: Canon or Nikon…or Hasselblad or Mamiya for Dance Photography?

Obvioulsy the cost will be different…Im wanting to invest in a brand so I can expand accordingly. Im an amateur and dont know whats the best way to go about when my knowledge is soooo sooo limited. My main interest in Dance and People…so i understand the Shutter speed has got to be excellent….Im not clued up to whats great and whats not – though am trying…Ive talked to a few people…but their knowledge is also limited. I really dont want to be sold something thats not going to enable me to get the photos I want…any advice would be great. I am on a Budget…rangeing upto about 1 Grand…but am unsure as to what this can get me….I want to get a really good camera body…plus lenses etc. I know this is all abit vague…hence my asking for help…any particular brands or models etc would be great. Thanks!
Sorry – this is for a Digital SLR
Main function: Dance / Action/ People
Wow – thanks so much for the honest responses….
Perhaps abit more research and then off to check them out in the shop…
Im aware that Hasselblad & Mamiya are that extra bit expensive and perhaps more than I need….
I will check out what I can get even if over budget abit – at the end of the day – if I can capture the frame and not lose the moment…and of course be able to shoot in low light…then Im half way there! Thanks again and any more advice always welcome….
Cheers!

Where can I get information on Medical photography on the Net and what equipments are needed?

Please let me know whether this is possible with a Nikon F75 35 mm film SLR Camera with lenses 28-105 and 70-300. These lenses do not have macro facilities.

Photography on a budget (lenses)?

I currently have a sony a200 with just the stock 18-70mm lens it came with… I’m looking to purchase probablly a macro and telephoto lens.. I don’t want to spend over 800 CAD (Canadian dollar) for both… I’m new to photography and I’ve been told you get what you pay for in lenses many of times… I can only afford the low grade lenses on my budget.. so my question is would i be better off buying a cheap sony lens or buying a old higher standard minolta lens…. Or any other suggestions?? I don’t want to put over tousands of dollars into lenses because it’s just a hobby of mine… maybe someday but I can’t afford that at the moment…

Please don’t respond unless you actually have used or heard about either the lower grade sony lenses or old minoltas

Thanks :)

Romantic Wedding Photography on a Budget

Choosing a photographer that you can afford within your budget is difficult, but if you set your priorities about what kind of photography you desire, that should make it easier. For instance, are you searching for a photographer with a lot of wedding experience? Have you looked at different photographed wedding portfolios to see what you like?

Choosing a romantic wedding photographer is different than seeking one who only does traditional photography. You know, the wedding photographs that have everyone lined up like schoolchildren on the church steps? Or photos that are so predictable that they become trite and hackneyed in the viewer’s eye even if they know the couple well?

If you seek romantic shots, the locale is of the utmost importance of course. Imagine the shots that can encompass swans gliding in front of the wedded couple as they kiss gently? However, we’re not all able to have gliding swans, thus your photographer will need to be very creative to capture romantic shots for you therefore make sure that the photographer is familiar with the locale of your wedding.

Whatever the venue of your wedding, romantic wedding photography relies on the photographer. Some take more romantic shots than others, thus you will need to carefully examine wedding portfolios to see the degree of romanticism involved.

Of course romanticism means something different to everyone. What one couple considers romantic, the other may call sappy. Getting the most romantic shots that you desire means that you need to openly communicate with the photographer. Choose wedding pictures from their portfolio that you like, and perhaps even use other wedding photographer’s portfolios to pass along ideas to the photographer that fits your budget.

Inquire if you will receive only digital pictures, or printed pictures too? Some photographers will charge much less for digital only, and some will guarantee you a coffee table album for your memories. Communication is the key here too, but be careful if you are charged by the photograph. All of your wedding photos will of course be the kind you wish to keep, and you’ll go way over budget.

Once you’ve found a number of photographers who suit your budget, you do need to spend some time with them. Just look at how much time you’ve set aside for all the other people involved in your wedding, the florist, the woman who made your wedding dress, the caterer, and you’ll realize that interviewing your photographer in person will enable you to choose the “right” one, and one with whom you are relaxed and confident to be with. After all, a photographer who does not like to work weddings will have that particular sentiment reflected in your photographs.

Photographers who are considered the most romantic are usually the photographers who can anticipate romantic moments. This is yet another important reason to meet with your photographer. Discuss it with them.

The act of choosing a romantic wedding photographer does not necessarily have to be extraordinarily expensive. Just be sure to choose photographers that are in your budget and only keep the special one who takes your kind of photography that you can relax with.

Budget Wedding Photography – Your Pictures Can Look Great Too

Planning a wedding on a budget is hard enough without having to pray that you have hired the right photographer. Being on a budget should not mean you need to sacrifice great pictures, the look of your wedding or the feel of the day. Budget wedding photography is possibly, along with budget wedding gowns and even reception halls. All you have to do is, know where to look and how to talk when you are trying to save yourself some money on the vendors you want to use.

Budget wedding photography can be achieved by simply being honest with the photographer. Tell him or her how much you can spend on your photographer and see what you can figure out together. For example, if you are looking one of the packages that are slightly out of your price range but it is the package you really want, you could try to negotiate with the photographer.

For example:

1. You can ask if you could take something off of the larger priced package to drop the price down a little.

2. Ask if you can get the package for a slightly lower price that way you don’t have to sacrifice.

3. See if you can get a discount for making one lump sum payment instead of making a deposit and then incremental payments.

4. Don’t be afraid to ask for a deal. The worst thing the photographer can say is no.

Be confident when you are asking for a discounted rate. Your posture and confidence level says a lot about you and just might be the winning factor for getting your budget wedding photography done at the price you can afford. Don’t be willing to compromise with your style either.

It’s your day, and no one, including the venders should try to change your mind about what you want. You have been envisioning your wedding day since you were knee high to a grasshopper. Don’t let anyone take your vision away from you.

The style you choose for your wedding pictures should not be a weighing factor in the price of them. For example, if you prefer to have an artistic style photography for your wedding, do not allow the photographer to talk you into traditional style photography in order for you to be able to have your budget wedding photography done. Some compromise is going to be necessary when you are trying to get your pictures for a smaller amount of money, but don’t be willing to sacrifice your overall needs and wants.

Wedding Photography Packages – Understanding How to Choose

As you begin looking into the various wedding photography packages available, you will likely begin to feel overwhelmed. That’s typical when couples are planning their wedding. With everything there is to do, the photographer is often the one professional that you expect to know what you want. However, if you don’t discuss your needs with the photographer he or she will likely not meet your needs and leave you upset after the wedding. Here are some of the most popular wedding photography packages.

Many future newly weds decide to go with wedding photography packages that are going to give them the most memories for the least amount of money. However, if you are not having a traditional wedding you might not want to purchase a package that is for 9 hours. A smaller and less costly package for 6 or 7 hours might better meet your needs.

First, consider your finances before looking into the various packages offered by the photographer you are choosing. Stick to your predetermined budget as much as humanly possible. Take into consideration the type of wedding you are having as well as the number of guests you will have witnessing your special day.

These are all factors that will be involved in the time you should hire a photographer. For smaller and more intimate weddings, you will not need to take advantage of the larger wedding photography packages. Something smaller, such as a 6 hour package should be sufficient.

Think about the type of photos you want taken. For example, do you want pictures of the bride getting dressed, maybe a few special photos of the bride and groom posed almost as though they are peeking through a door to see each other or maybe special photos of the grandparents of the bride and groom. Will there be a few location changes for pictures etc. Travel time should also be considered when you are hiring your photographer and choosing your wedding photography package.

If you are going to have pictures taken at a house and then travel for 30 minutes to the church and travel another 30 minutes to the reception hall. You already are looking at a decent amount of travel time when photos will not be taken. You also need to consider the extras you would like included for your package.

Depending on your particular photographer, you should be able to order a photo album, a few larger sized wedding photos and even have your wedding photos put on a DVD for your convenience. If any of these options are something you would like included in your wedding photo package you should discuss your needs with the photographer. Wedding photography packages vary as much as the photographers do. You just have to know what you want and how much you are willing to pay for it.

Wedding Photography – Budget or High End?

Are you in the mist of planning a wedding? If so, wedding photography may be the last thing on your mind. But reconsider.

The wedding dress, ceremony, reception and cake will all be major features of your wedding. But, just as important are your wedding photos, for these will be viewed time and again by yourself, friends and family for years – if not generations – to come, bringing back sweet memories of events on your special day.

It’s true that high end wedding photography can be a large expense, but you’ll find professional photographers to fit all budgets, and beautiful wedding shots certainly are a way of ensuring that the magic of your special day lives on for years and generations to come.

So, get busy contacting local professional photographers for free quotes. It’s more than likely they’ll offer a variety of packages to suit all pockets. For example, a budget package might include attendance at the actual ceremony, resulting in a limited number of photos displayed in a traditional matted album.

If you’re after more than just the basics but still don’t want to spend a fortune, plump for a mid-priced package, which should include longer photographic attendance at your wedding, more photos, displayed in a better quality album, plus a few additional extras, such as an online gallery.

Perhaps you can afford a no-expenses-spared wedding? In that case, you’d be wise to invest in quality, upper price range wedding photography. With this, you’ll get top quality products and advice, plenty of photos in a handmade, custom-designed album, along with a variety of additional products.

But, what if you’ve overspent on your dress or cake, or don’t have a lot of money left over for wedding photography? What can you do to ensure your reduced budget doesn’t compromise the overall quality of your wedding pictures?

First of all, remember not to wear yourself out too much whilst planning your wedding, so that you’re fresh to really enjoy yourself once your special day arrives. This way, you’re pictures are sure to come out better – whether taken by a family friend or by a professional photographer.

Secondly, use pictures to create more pictures. A recent trend in weddings is to create slideshows of special or embarrassing photographs of the bride and groom, especially during their childhood days.

Another way of saving on wedding photography is to let your guests take pictures. Leave a cheap, disposable camera on each table, along with a note encouraging your guests to snap pictures of each other, the wedding reception, and so forth. These pictures could turn out to be some of your most interesting shots.

And, of course, you’ll also want to appoint a family member or friend to be in charge of the main wedding photos, taking more traditional shots. While these wedding photography approaches will get you some unique photographs at an affordable price, they certainly won’t replace the amazing pictures produced by a professional photographer.

As outlined above, wedding photography doesn’t have to break the bank. Even if you’re on a budget, you can have your wedding documented with wonderful pictures. Remember, the cost is more than worth it. Your wedding and the magic created will live on for years.
