Lenses for Sony DSC H2?

I want a telephoto lens so that I can take pics of things like wildlife and not have them appear as dots. I’d also love to be able to get clear shots of things like flowers where the subject matter fills the entire shot – where your lense is right on top of what you’re shooting. Apparently this is called macro photography?

My main question is do I need to get the lenses made for this camera or should I investigate others? I’m just a casual shooter – but I still want good results. I don’t want to be penny wise and pound foolish either – but I have only $450 to spend on both.

Am I better off going to a camera shop and asking for help?

Here are the two made for my camera:

Can’t choose between 2 lenses… but can only afford one! Advice?

The lenses are:
Nikkor 60mm f/2.8 Micro (macro)
Nikkor 70-300 f/4.5-5.6

I was originally saving for the zoom, because I really want to get into wildlife photography, but I’ve always loved/been interested in macro photography. If you want, you can view my flickr stream: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dani_1591/
but PLEASE refer to the photos older than July OR just look at what I consider my favorites:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/dani_1591/sets/72157600044138250/
… that will give you the best idea of my current “style” – I really haven’t had much time for photography or uploading photos to Flickr since starting school, so my most recent uploads aren’t really a good representation of what I normally do.

Anyways… any advice about which lens?
(Or another similar lens – a different brand maybe? that would be in my price range, up to $550)
Thanks in advance =)

Which Lenses are necessary?

I’m trying to start up a photography business, and I have the money, I have a general idea, but would like a professional opinion, or some one with a lot of experience, so which lenses are exactley needed? I will be doing portraits, and scenery, action shots (sports.) Also some close up shots, so which macro lenses are needed?

experienced photographers: macro work…?

question for more-than-amateur photographers. how can i take better macro nature photos (besides more experience, which I’ll get in due time)?

I’m fairly new to photography, but I’ve done my research. i know how to take your average macro shot, (i know about aperture, filters, different lenses, bokeh, tripod of course ect. ect. ect.), but i can’t find any in-depth information about what will help with my photos. every website or book i’ve found just gives me basic information that I’ve already heard 20-30 times…

i tend to use available light, it’s adequate for now, but would a macro flash or ring flash help? are close up filters or extension tubes worth while? any composition tricks that work best with macro photography? i usually blur the background and keep the subject to one side, but that’s getting a bit repetitive now.

just any information or advice you can give me from your own experience would help. thanks.

macro photography is my favorite type of photography, and i’m currently saving up for a Zeiss ZF 2/50 macro lens.

please don’t give me a link, unless you think it will be really helpful. i’ve seen so many things that say the same thing.
thanks again.

PS. to show you what ‘level’ i’m at, here’s some macro photos of mine.

How does lens size work exactly?

I’ve recently been taking photos (amateur still) and am currently using a Pentax Kx entry level camera with an 18-55 mm lens.

My questions are:

What kind of camera lenses should I invest in if I want to get into Macro photography and Landscape photography?

How does the lens size work exactly?

What advantages does a smaller lens have over a larger one (and visa versa) and in which situations should you use one over the other?

Thanks!

Job for a macro lens?

I watched a how to video on taking pictures of water droplets today and I wanted to try it out.

I got all the set up for the photo shoot but i couldn’t seem to get my camera to focus on that close of an object.

So I thought maybe my 18-55mm lens was just not right for that type of focusing, so I put my 55-200mm VR lens on my NikonD40.

I couldn’t get it to focus on the water droplet and everything was just a huge blur.

Is this type if photography too close up for my lenses and will i need a macro lens to do this?

Suggestions for cheap macro lenses?

Any inside info or tricks are appreciated! Thank you!
