Why the hell are Medium format and Dslr underwater casings so expensive?

At B&Hphoto there is a medium format film slr by hasselblad.
It is a chrome 500 series. Why on earth is it 2600 USD?
The automatic film camera was the same price.
Then medium format lenses are hell expensive.

Also, why on earth are underwater casings so expensive?
I don’t understand how they can be more expensive than the camera itself.

What is the most affordable but sharpest medium format photography system?

I want to invest in a medium format camera system, I am looking at various used film systems. I am wondering what is the cheapest system that performs well? Are there any underrated cameras I can find on eBay for cheap? Systems I am looking at right now are the Hasselblad 500C/M or the Pentax 67, both these systems seem quite expensive though. What other systems are good to look at? I want either a 6×6 or 6×7, a 645 would be okay if it were super affordable.

I just bought myself a used hasselblad. I have been using a light meter, but I like to do street photography and the whole process is just too slow. Without the in the camera meter I just can’t catch the moments I am looking for. I am a student so please go easy on me…

Camera and Equipment advise please?

I am interested in learning photography. I am an amature now with 3 cameras. Minolta maxxum 7000, Sony Cybershot, and Nikon Coolpix S6. I want more professional looking photos, and I am interested in going to Medium and to Large Format cameras to acheive this. They all look so different. I think Hasselblad is the most common for fashion photographers, but will I need to go that strong for wedding and portait photography? I’ve checked out many sites, ebay included, but want advise before spending $$$ on the wrong outfit. Thanks.
